Midwest Precision Tool & Die (MPTD), an MC Machinery customer for 25 years, has been featured in the June issue of Aerospace Manufacturing and Design.

The article discusses how the purchase of a Mitsubishi LT-400M turning center and a DV-1000 vertical machining center has helped MPTD make accurate parts to fulfill its current aerospace contract. Working in the aerospace industry isn’t new for the company as it has been an aerospace shop for 20 years, but machining Inconel was a new challenge they faced that MC Machinery helped them overcome.

“We attended a few trade shows where these machines were on display – allowing us to see the machines at work,” says Mike McCoy, manufacturing engineer at MPTD. “Looking at the performance of these machines and the financing options available through MC Machinery, we knew this was the best choice.”

Live-tooling on the LT-400M has enabled the company to eliminate secondary operations and run complete parts at one time instead of switching to various stations, while the DV-1000 has helped increase part throughput. When quantifying advantages of the machines, there has been up to a 40% reduction in cycle times, allowing MPTD to quickly produce accurate parts with room for more customer growth.
