CNC Machining Customer Applications Engineer

  • Part Processing and Programming: The engineer will be required to assess and execute a process to manufacture a customer’s part utilizing CNC milling and turning equipment sold by MC Machinery Systems.. This procedure includes choosing appropriate workholding techniques and tooling technology, as well as, programming the part(s) using Mastercam or Delcam solutions.  For the purpose of processing these solutions a working knowledge of Autocad and Solidworks is beneficial.
  • Customer Demonstrations: Engineer will function as machine operation instructor in a/lab, technical center, showroom or customer floor environment to demonstrate the functionality of the CNC equipment being sold by MC Machinery.
  • Field Applications: Travel to customer job site and troubleshoot process, throughput, accuracy and surface quality issues on all versions of milling and turning products sold by MC Machinery Systems.
  • Trade Shows: The applications engineer will be required to work on-sight at industry trade shows and demonstrate the products sold by MC Machinery Systems.
  • Phone Support; Provide customer support via telephone on application and operation issues.


Qualified candidates must have 3 years set up and operating CNC milling and turning equipment in a job shop environment, a machine tool dealer or a machine tool company.  Experience programming 5 axis machining centers a plus but not a firm requirement.  A candidate with a 2-year degree in the Machining trade with a minimum of 2 years of job experience may also qualify.  Familiarity and knowledge of NC programming systems such as Mastercam, AutoCAD, ESPIRT is preferred. Experience in industrial machine repair (electronic and mechanical) a plus but not required.


  • Knowledge of industrial machinery, CNC setup and operation, cutting techniques, programming, controller functions, and troubleshooting techniques, as well as ability to train customers on proper usage of such techniques.
  • The ability to interact with customers in a sales environment and be personable, courteous and kind.
  • Ability to effectively document and communicate ideas, strategies, problems, and solutions in both verbal and written forms to co-workers and customers.
  • Ability to prepare written reports and other necessary supportive documentation.
  • Position requires travel and sometimes requiring overnight stays.  Candidate must be willing to travel for business. Travel is required up to 30% of the time. Approximately 70% of the time is spent in the Chicago area technical center. 
  • Must have valid Drivers license and proof of insurance.
  • Credit Card required for business expenses.


  • In the event a technically qualified candidate requires additional training in the operation of CAD or CAM software, MC Machinery will provide this training to further aid in the successful candidate’s growth and experience.
