Laser (VZ1/VZ2): Level 1 - Machine Fundamentals

Operations Course - 5 Days

The Laser machine Fundamentals Course begins with an introduction to the various parts of the machine tool, head, teach box and control.

A demonstration and class lab follow this on work piece preparation fundamentals that will allow each student to actually use the setup feature(s) of the machine. Each student will be shown the proper methods of nozzle centering, beam focusing, and height calibration.

Students will be given time on the equipment to perform the above setup procedures. They then will have the opportunity to manually teach a variety of preformed parts in varied thickness. During these labs they will be shown how to diagnose the cut and make changes in the cutting condition. Also the student will learn proper teach methods to program the processing head. Dry-running as well as etching cut path and teach program correction will be completed by each student to complete the cutting exercise in optimal processing time and cut quality. The student will be shown how to clean the processing lens, cut multiples of one part and how to adjust the focus for processing different materials.

Teach Box, CNC Control screen navigation and functions will be presented followed by explanations of how the Technology settings, Feedrates, Power settings and Cutter Compensations affect the machining results. They will also be shown how to save programs and use the system Data Input and Output.

VZ1 training is currently being done on site only.

Who should attend:

This course is designed primarily for new equipment operators. This class is intended for both the first time user and those wishing for a refresher course in Laser fundamentals.

A basic understanding of CNC operations and general Fabrication concepts is suggested. Knowledge of industry terms used in this course will greatly aid in understanding of the machine features.

The Machine Fundamentals Course will introduce and instruct the student in the functions, setups and operational principles of the current series 64-bit PC based Mitsubishi 6-Axis Laser machine. It is primarily designed to provide the first time user with a good knowledge foundation of the features and specific controls necessary to run the average Laser job and is introductory in nature.
